No. 4 Huskies Cap Regular Season with 5-1 Win Over American

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Redshirt senior Cecile Pieper and junior Svea Boker each tallied six points as the No. 4 UConn field hockey team (16-3) beat American (8-8) 5-1 in the Huskies' final game of the regular season.
Pieper scored three goals vs. the Eagles while Boker had two goals and two assists. The duo had all of UConn's points in the game.
Boker scored the first goal of the game, turning in the circle and finding the back of the cage with a hard shot at 6:01. Beginning with a penalty corner, Pieper scored at 7:57 after taking a quick pass from Boker. Pieper scored again at 10:19 with a bounced shot over the goalkeeper, and UConn held the 3-0 lead to halftime.
Pieper finished off her hat trick at 46:21 in the second half off an assist from Boker. Boker tallied the final UConn goal at 55:34. American scored at 64:14, but the Huskies held on to the 5-1 lead.
Redshirt freshman Cheyenne Sprecher made three saves in goal.
UConn held a 15-5 advantage in shots. The teams each had three penalty corners.
The Huskies finished the regular season on a four-game win streak. UConn is 9-0 in away games this season.
The Huskies are the No. 1 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament, which will be in Lynchburg, Va., next weekend. UConn will face fourth-seeded Villanova in the semifinals Friday at 1 p.m.
