LYNCHBURG, Va. – The No. 1 seeded UConn field hockey team set a Big East Tournament record with nine goals scored en route to a semifinal victory against Villanova, 9-1, on Friday afternoon on the campus of Liberty University.

Maddy Wray, Svea Boker and Abby Gooderham each scored a pair of goals as the Huskies totaled a season-high nine goals, including five in the first half.

Boker opened the scoring 4:44 into the match on a great feed from Cecile Pieper. Pieper slotted a pass to Boker and the junior backhanded a shot past the keeper from the top of the circle.

UConn (17-3) converted two penalty corner opportunities in the first half with both goals coming off the stick of Gooderham. Toni Tiedke and Amanda Collins notched assists on both tallies.

With the Huskies extending their lead in the second half, UConn was able to get 21 players onto the pitch during the match.

Peiper, Collins and Jessica Dembrowski also notched goals for the Huskies.

UConn advances to Sunday's Big East Championship game against the winner of No. 2 Liberty/No. 3 Providence at 1 p.m. The game can be streamed live on Fox Sports Go.
