Huskies Continue Hockey East Play with Weekend Contests at UNH, vs. Holy Cross

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's hockey team (3-0-0, 1-0-0 WHEA) looks to continue its hot start to the 2018-19 season with a pair of weekend matchups against UNH and Holy Cross. Friday, Oct. 12 the Huskies travel to Durham, N.H. to face the Wildcats at 7 p.m. in the Whittemore Center. UConn will return home the following day (Oct. 13) to host the Holy Cross Crusaders in a 3 p.m. matinee.

Heading into the Matchup…
· UConn is off to its best start (3-0-0) since Chris MacKenzie took over the program.
· The Huskies are receiving votes in both the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine and USCHO.com polls.
· UConn split the 17-18 season series with UNH, while this will be the first game between the Huskies and Crusaders since 2001.
Last Time Out…
Behind two late third period goals, the UConn women's hockey team was able to skate away with a 4-2 victory over the Vermont Catamounts to open up Hockey East competition. UConn outshot Vermont 36-23 and three of the four Husky goals stemmed from power plays. On the defensive end, the UConn blue line killed all five Catamount power plays.
Leading the Pack…
Chris Mackenzie enters his sixth season as the coach of the Huskies. Mackenzie has been an instrumental part in turning the program around and in 2015-16, Mackenzie coached UConn to their first winning season since 2010.
Next Up…
UConn will hit the road for a Friday night date at Boston College. Game time is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
