PROVIDENCE --- Junior Eric Dietrich (Cheshire, Conn.), who led the UConn men's golf team in scoring average and captured the only individual tournament championship this season, has been named to the American Athletic Conference All-Conference Team, announced by the league on Friday.
It is the first such honor for Dietrich, who averaged 71.9 strokes per round for 32 rounds in 11 tournaments this year. He had a team-leading 17 rounds of par or better and seven sub-70 rounds, including a career-low 64 in the final round of the Til Duty Is Done Collegiate Invitational at the Mohegan Sun Golf Club. Dietrich shot 73-66-64=203 at the TDID, to earn his first collegiate tournament win, and led the Huskies to the tournament title. It was one of five Top 10 finishes and seven Top 20 finishes for Dietrich this season.
Dietrich was one of 14 AAC All-Conference selections announced by the league. USF senior Aksel Olsen was named the AAC Player of the Year, USF coach Steve Bradley was the Coach of the Year, and UCF's Donnie Trosper was the Freshman of the Year.
