Huskies Finish Up Rain Shortened Don Gimmler Invitational

FARMINGDALE, NY - The UConn men's golf team finished 13th overall at the weather shortened Doc Gimmler Invitational this weekend at Bethpage State Park Red Course. The tournament was cut short due to heavy rains and standing water on the course on Sunday, leaving the first two rounds on Saturday as the final results.
The Huskies shot 290 over the first 18 holes on Saturday and 289 in round two for a 579 (+19) on the par 70, 7,092 yard course.
UConn was led by sophomore Brennan Korn (Scottsdale, AZ) who finished tied for 26th overall in the 82 player field. Korn shot an even par 70 in round one and a three-over 73 in round two. Junior Kai Jun-Huang (Taipei, Taiwan) and fifth year Justin Burroughs (Pensacola, FL) tied for 45th, with Jun-Huang shooting 146 (71-75) over the two rounds and Burroughs a 78 in round one and even par 70 in round two.
Junior Caden Blanchette (Manchester, PA) was tied for 60th after shooting 149 (78-71), followed by freshman Yves Koller (Zurich Switzerland) rounding out the lineup in 67th (73-77=150). Sophomore Matthew Oliveira (Dartmouth, MA), playing as an individual, tied for 40th with a 145 (71-74).
The Huskies return to action next weekend at the U.S. Naval Academy next for The Goat on September 19-20.
