Williams Named to All-Conference Second Team

AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE AWARDS
STORRS, Conn. - Redshirt freshman Kayla Williams, who recorded 17 double-doubles this season for UConn volleyball, was named Second Team All-Conference as announced by the American Athletic Conference on Tuesday.
Following a redshirt season in 2015, Williams led the Huskies (16-15, 7-13 American) in kills (3.47/set), digs (2.94/set) and points (3.88/set) - becoming UConn's most potent offensive threat.
Of her numerous double-double performances, Williams set a career-high with 26 kills against Albany on Sept. 16. Last week against Tulsa, she recorded a career-best 23 digs in a five-set loss.
Throughout the season, Williams was named to the LSU Tiger Classic All-Tournament Team and the West Point Invite All-Tournament Team. When UConn hosted the Dog Pound Challenge, she was named Tournament MVP after averaging 13.3 kills per match.
On three different occasions, Williams earned a spot on the American Athletic Conference weekly honor roll for her contributions. She was instrumental in UConn's 11-2 start to the season.
Williams' 392 kills nearly cracked UConn's top 10 list for a season, falling just short of Kim Lobach and Jamie Hadenfeldt's 415 kills, who share 10th place.
