Hughes, Borowy Named to East Coast Challenge All-Tournament Team

STORRS, Conn. - UConn volleyball sophomore middle blocker Jordyn Hughes and freshman outside hitter Sydney Borowy were named to the East Coast Challenge All-Tournament Team following the Huskies' 2-1 weekend at the UConn Volleyball Center.
UConn opened the tournament with back-to-back sweeps of New Hampshire and FDU before falling to Yale, 3-1, on Sunday. The Huskies moved to 5-5 on the season following the weekend.
Hughes recorded 21 kills across the three matches, tallying eight kills against both New Hampshire and FDU before adding five against Yale. Defensively, she totaled 11 blocks, including three solo blocks and three block assists against New Hampshire, two block assists against FDU and five solo blocks and one block assist against Yale. Hughes also added three digs on the weekend.
Through 10 matches this season, Hughes has totaled 30 kills, 14 digs and 15 total blocks while hitting .455.
Borowy led UConn with 33 kills over the weekend, recording eight against New Hampshire, 12 against FDU and a team-high 13 against Yale. She added a service ace against the Bulldogs and four digs on the weekend. Borowy also contributed three solo blocks and five block assists throughout the tournament.
A freshman, Borowy leads the Huskies with 91 kills on the season and ranks second on the team with 21 total blocks.
