Women's Lacrosse Receives Academic Honor

STORRS, Conn. - The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) recognized the UConn women's lacrosse team on Monday for its academic achievements by awarding the team IWLCA Division I Academic Honor Squad honors for the 2015 season.
A total of 83 Division I schools were honored, and a grand total of 261 schools combined Division I, II and III. Every program with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher earned Academic Squad honors.
This honor comes after 23 members of the UConn women's lacrosse team were selected to the league's 2014-15 All-Academic Team. UConn is an associate member of the BIG EAST Conference in those two sports.
The members of the team who were selected to the BIG EAST 2014-15 All-Academic team include: Emily Anderson, Jessie Beer, Deryn Blaney ,Alexandra Crofts, Cassie Ekstrom, Valerie Everett, Alyson Fazio, Marya Fratoni, Emily Giumetti, Kristen Hansen,Madison Hooper, Jacqueline Jordan, Lauren Kwasnowski, Sara McBride, Shannon Nee, Grace Nolan, Cassie Perettine,Grace Presnick, Sarah Smith, Victoria Thompson, Maggie Tripodi, Ashley Van Scyoc, and Karaline Smith.
Five other BIG EAST conference teams were named as Academic Honor Squads including, Georgetown, Florida, Marquette, Temple and Vanderbilt.
The Huskies finished the 2015 season with an overall record of 11-7 and a BIG EAST record of 5-2.
