Hamilton, N.Y. - Rebecca Murray (Carmel, Ind.) combined for 21 kills on the day, including a season-high 15 against Colgate, but the University of Connecticut volleyball team was not able to overcome Colgate or Akron, dropping three-set matches to both at the Colgate Invitational.
Kelsey Maving (Tonawanda, N.Y.) represented UConn on the All-Tournament Team after she posted 50 digs on the weekend, including match-highs against all three opponents, Cornell (22), Colgate (13) and Akron (15). Maving also recorded four service aces, with two coming in the first match of the tournament against Cornell.

After a rough first set UConn was able to put together solid runs during the second set, including a seven-point rally in the middle off of kills from Murray and Cayla Broadwater (Williamsport, Md.) that brought the score to 17-16. The Huskies stayed within three points the rest of the way, with kills from Murray, Broadwater, Mattison Quayle (Los Angeles, Calif.) and Allison Nickel (Pittsford, N.Y.) but came up just short in the 25-22 Colgate win.
The Huskies stayed within three points of Colgate during the entire third set and held a lead early on, but weren't able to capitalize on three straight service aces by Murray as Colgate finished the match with a 25-23 victory in set three.
Murray's 15 kills was also a match-high against Colgate, while her four service aces tied her career-best.
Broadwater ended the match with seven kills and seven digs, while Angela Roidt (McFarland, Wis.) posted all 30 of the Huskies assists.

Hamer also had a career-high three service aces against the Zips, all coming during the second set, but UConn was not able to catch up to Akron, as the Zips led the entire set except at 3-2 when UConn held a one point advantage, dropping the set, 20-25.
