Golf Opens Spring By Finishing 17th at El Diablo

CITRUS SPRINGS, Fla. (March 19, 2005) - The University of Connecticut men’s golf team finished in 17th place out of 19 competing schools at the El Diablo Intercollegiate at the par-72 El Diablo Golf and County Club in Citrus Springs, Fla. UConn shot consistent rounds of 319, 320 and 320 for a total of 959. Oklahoma City University is the current pace-setter with its 896.
Freshman Brian Travalja led UConn with a 234, tying for 40th overall. Fellow A.J. Siekierski's 237 tied him for 53rd. Jason Parajeckas shot a 241 to place 65th. Justin Ciombor tied for 99th with his 255 while Jordan Burke shot a 257 to rank 105th.
The Huskies return to action, April 2-3 at the George Washington Invitational in Issue, Md.
