2024-25 (as a freshman): Was the 2025 BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and an All-Conference Third Team pick…an NABC All-District First Team selection…led UConn with 14.5 points per game and was second on the squad with 6.0 rebounds per contest…played in 27 games, missing eight with an injury from Jan. 1-Feb. 7…recorded four double-doubles, including in his first two games…was the first UConn freshman to open his career with back-to-back double-doubles since 1978…exploded for 38 points at Creighton on Feb. 11 to lead UConn to its first win in Omaha…marked the highest scoring single game for a UConn rookie in a BIG EAST game…added 2.3 assists per game and had a 1.2 assist/turnover ratio…scored 22 points against eventual champion Florida in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Before UConn: A 2024 McDonald’s All-American and consensus five-star, top-15 prospect…the second McDonald’s All-American to commit to Dan Hurley at UConn and the 13th in program history…ranked No. 9 in the final ESPN 100 rankings for his class, the highest ranking for an incoming Husky since 2011…began his high school career in his native Texas and spent a season each at Pearce High School and John Paul II…was an All-State selection and a 6A State Champion as a sophomore…moved to powerhouse Montverde Academy in Florida…was the leading scorer for Montverde as a junior, then helped the Eagles to an undefeated season and Chipotle National Title as a senior…in addition to the McDonald’s All-America game, McNeeley was part of the 2024 Jordan Brand Classic, winning MVP of Team Air after scoring 25 points…has Team USA national team experience, winning a gold medal with the U16 team at the 2021 FIBA Americas U16 Championship…played with Drive Nation on the AAU circuit, leading the 2022 U16 Nike EYBL circuit with over 24 points per game.
