WSOC Kicks Off 2026 Season at Stony Brook

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's soccer team opens the 2026 season on Thursday, August 13 at 6 p.m. at Stony Brook. The game can be seen on FloCollege.
The Huskies begin the season being voted the runner up in the BIG EAST Conference behind Georgetown. UConn finished 2025 with 11-4-3 mark overall and went 7-1-2 in the BIG EAST Conference to take home a third place finish. UConn has produced three-straight double digit win seasons.
Anaya Johnson and Se-Hanna Mars return to the Huskies and were named to the preseason All-BIG EAST team. Johnson earned First Team All-BIG EAST accolades after her 2025 season which included one goal and an assist in 17 matches in the midfield. Mars put together a Third Team All-BIG EAST season a year ago. The redshirt sophomore led the team with four assists and added three goals during her first campaign on the field for the Huskies.
The Huskies also return senior defender Lydia LeBlanc (18 games), sophomore midfielder Maree-Anne Van Doesburg (18 games, three assists), sophomore defender Ines Nourani (15 games), senior defender Alayna Taylor (16 games, two assists), junior defender Riley Prozzo (11 games, one assist), senior Jessica Carr (12 games), sophomore forward Tiana Righetti (eight games) and forward Kalina Fraser (one game). Naia Ocio is a key contributor the Huskies will miss this season with a knee injury that will cost her the season.
In goal, the Huskies return sophomore Ava Yamas who started all 18 games in 2025 and boasted 0.80 GAA with 10 shutouts and 52 saves on the campaign. Senior goalkeeper Elizabeth DiBlasi also appeared in a pair of matches.
UConn brings in 12 newcomers with six transfers and six freshmen joining the roster. Junior defender Shea Boyle (Seton Hall), junior defender Olivia Beauvois (Seton Hall), senior forward Emily Hanrahan (St. Joseph's), junior forward Chloe Shimkin (Texas), senior midfielder Tea Reyes (Sacramento State), and junior defender Morgan Barry (Vermont) bring DI experience to the Huskies this season.
Freshmen forward Hrefna Jonsdottir, defender Jasmine McNish, midfielder Maeve Staunton, forward Marion Ayeh, midfielder Anya Montano and defender Maddy Anderson get their first taste of college soccer. After redshirting in 2025, sophomore defender Morgan Mooney, sophomore midfielder Rosie Lifrieri and junior midfielder Gabby Miller look to make an impact in 2026
