Huskies Announce Addition of Elmir Džafic

STORRS – The UConn men's basketball team has announced the addition of big man Elmir Džafic for the 2026-27 season. The 7'0 native of Tinja, Bosnia and Herzegovina will enroll as a sophomore this summer.
"Elmir is a big, strong, physical prospect who has high-major experience," head coach Dan Hurley said. "We're excited to add his size and strength to the frontcourt group."
Džafic joins the Huskies after spending the 2025-26 season as a freshman at Arkansas. He saw time in seven contests for the Razorbacks and totaled three points, a rebound, a block and a steal. Prior to his time in Fayetteville, the big man spent two seasons with KK Bosna Royal in Sarajevo in the BiH Liga, the top flight in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In 2023-24 and 2024-25 he combined to appear in 17 games and averaged 2.4 points and 1.4 rebounds while shooting 69.6 percent. He debuted in the First League of Republika Srpska in 2022-23 with Buducnost BN in Bileljina, where he averaged 3.7 points and 2.8 rebounds in 25 contests.
On the international stage, Džafic was part of the Bosnian National Team at the 2023 FIBA U18 European Championship Division B. He totaled eight appearances in the competition and averaged a double-double with 13.1 points and 10.0 rebounds per game.
