STORRS – The UConn men's basketball program has bolstered its ranks with the additions of transfers Jaye Nash and Isaiah Shaw for the 2026-27 season. The duo joins four previously announced new transfers and two incoming freshmen as part of an eight-man crop of signed newcomers.
Nash comes to Connecticut for his junior season after playing one year at Tulsa (2024-25) and most recently at Jacksonville State (2025-26). The 6'3 guard and Memphis native was a three-star recruit in the class of 2024 after his senior season at McEachern High in Powder Springs, Ga.
"Jaye is a strong addition to the backcourt who can give us some energy and pop as a ballhandler," head coach Dan Hurley said. "He's a tough competitor and knows how to make plays. Jaye comes from a great family and will add experience, leadership and energy to the locker room."
As a sophomore last season at Jax State Nash appeared in 32 contests and made 15 starts. He averaged 5.1 points, 4.0 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 25.5 minutes per game. He finished fifth in Conference USA in assists per game and was ninth in the conference with a 2.2 assist/turnover ratio. As a freshman at Tulsa the season prior, Nash averaged 6.7 minutes across 21 contests and totaled 25 points, 18 rebounds, 30 assists and four steals.
Prior to matriculating at Tulsa, Nash spent three seasons at Briarcrest Christian School in Memphis, where he set the program's all-time assists record, before moving to McEachern for his senior year. As a senior he was a Georgia Class 7A All-State pick after averaging 12.8 points, 7.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game.
Shaw joins the Huskies for his final season of college basketball. The 6'8 wing from Phoenix is part of a storied basketball family, the son of the Casey Shaw and Dana Drew Shaw. Casey was a second round pick in the 1998 NBA Draft of the Philadelphia 76ers before a lengthy overseas career, while Dana is a member of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame and the Toledo Hall of Fame after setting the all-time records in points and assists at Toledo. Dana is the son of the legendary former Valparaiso coach Homer Drew and the brother of Scott and Bryce Drew, the current head coaches of Baylor and Grand Canyon, respectively.
"Isaiah comes from a great basketball family and he fits our culture," Hurley said. "On the court, he can space the floor with his perimeter shooting and has tremendous versatility. He's a veteran whose experience, work ethic and basketball knowledge will be an invaluable asset for the program."
Shaw spent three years at Grand Canyon (2021-24) playing for his uncle Bryce before a season at Valparaiso (2024-25), most recently appearing in 29 games with 22 starts at Northern Arizona in 2025-26. At NAU last season he averaged 8.1 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.0 'stocks' in 18.3 minutes per game while posting a 46.4 / 46.4 / 81.1 shooting line. Shaw played in 29 games for the Lumberjacks and made 22 starts.
He started his career as a redshirt at GCU in 2021-22, then played in only seven games the next year before an injury forced a medical redshirt. In '23-24 he averaged 2.6 points and 0.9 rebounds in 7.9 minutes per game before graduating in three years from Grand Canyon and moving to Valparaiso. As a redshirt sophomore at Valpo in 2024-25, Shaw played in 33 games with three starts and averaged 4.8 points and 1.5 rebounds.
