STORRS, Conn. – The UConn softball team (17-22) travels to Indianapolis this weekend for a three-game series with the Butler Bulldogs from April 10-12.
UConn enters the weekend having won seven consecutive games and ten of their last eleven contests. The Huskies are currently in a three-way tie in second place in the BIG EAST standings with a 9-3 conference record. FULL STANDINGS
Sophomore infielder Cat Petteys helped lead the Huskies to a sweep of Villanova last weekend, propelling her to be named the BIG EAST Player of the Week. In three games, Petteys hit .571 with three extra base hits and five RBI. Senior infielder Savannah Ring is carrying a 12-game hit streak into the weekend. Ring is hitting .349 this season and .419 in BIG EAST play.
A Look at Butler
The Butler Bulldogs (17-13) are coming off a series loss against Creighton a weekend ago. Butler currently sits in second place in the BIG EAST standings with a 9-3 conference record. The Bulldogs are coached by Scott Hall in his 16thseason. This season, Butler has been led by junior infielder Makena Alexander. Her .494 batting average leads the conference this season and ranks 12th nationally.
Series History
UConn won last year's regular season series, winning two out of three games. The Huskies have won five straight series against the Bulldogs. Under head coach Laura Valentino, UConn is 14-3 against Butler (since 2021). The Huskies are 15-3 all-time against the Bulldogs.
