Beran Earns BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week Honors

STORRS- UConn women's lacrosse junior defender Abby Beran has been named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced in a release on Monday afternoon. Beran has taken home the award four times this season.

Beran continued her dominant junior season on the defensive end in a 1-1 week for UConn. Against Villanova, the New York native tied a program record with 10 ground balls, set a new career-high eight draw controls, and caused seven turnovers.

In UConn's win over Butler, Beran caused a career-high eight turnovers, scooped up six ground balls, and notched three draw controls. Beran also scored the second goal of the season for the Huskies. The junior set a new single-season program record for caused turnovers in the victory on Saturday.

Beran and the Huskies return to action on Saturday, April 11^th on the road against Xavier at 12:00pm.
