Huskies Wrap up Regular Season at Georgetown This Weekend

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn softball team (25-25) will close out their regular season slate this weekend in the nation's capital as the Huskies will take on Georgetown in a three-game series from May 1-3 at the Mount Vernon Athletic Complex. All three games will be streamed on the Georgetown Athletics YouTube Channel.
UConn is coming off a series win over Creighton last weekend, securing the Huskies spot in the 2026 BIG EAST Tournament. UConn currently is tied for second place in the BIG EAST standings with a 15-6 conference record. FULL STANDINGS
The Huskies enter the weekend having won 15 of their last 18 games. During this 18-game stretch, UConn has outscored their opponents, 132-60, hitting .308 as a team with 60 extra base hits. Five Huskies are hitting above .300 in this stretch, Cat Petteys (.420), Savannah Ring (.394), Kaitlyn Breslin (.373), Ava Calciano (.333), and Kaitlyn Kibling (.308).
Freshman utility Emma Willers was recently named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for the second time this season. In four games last week, Willers hit .364, recording four hits, one home run, and three RBI. Sophomore infielder Cat Petteys earned BIG EAST Honor Roll for the second time this season after posting a .625 batting average in four games last week. Petteys recorded five hits, three being doubles, with seven runs batted in and seven runs scored. She worked a team-high seven walks, four being intentional walks.
A Look at Georgetown
The Georgetown Hoyas (16-23) enter the weekend having lost four of their last five games. The Hoyas currently sit in sixth place in the BIG EAST standings with a 9-12 conference record. Georgetown is coached by Karla Ross in her second season. This season, the Hoyas have been led by senior infielder Dayanara Campos.
Series History
UConn has won six consecutive games against Georgetown, and nine of the last ten matchups. Under head coach Laura Valentino, the Huskies are 11-2 against the Hoyas (since 2020). UConn leads the all-time series, 14-8.
