INDIANAPOLIS – The UConn baseball team (20-17, 6-3 BIG EAST) notched a road series win with a 13-0 run-rule victory against Butler (13-22, 4-2 BIG EAST) on Sunday afternoon at Bulldog Park.
The Huskies scored a season-high 10 runs in a 13-batter seventh inning to balloon their 3-0 lead into a 13-0 advantage.
Jackson Marshall delivered a bloop RBI single to begin the scoring and capped the frame with his team-leading 10th home run of the year, a three-run shot.
Gabriel Tirado and Nater Wachter recorded back-to-back doubles along with Peyton Jemison ripping a two-run single in the frame.
Wachter drove in three runs on a pair of hits including a go-ahead two-out, two-run single in the fourth to get the Huskies on the board.
Oliver Pudvar registered the Huskies second-straight complete game performance with 7.0 shutout innings that featured just five hits, one walk and seven strikeouts in the run-rule victory.
Tyler Minick, Marshall, Tirado, Wachter and Jemison all collected multi-hit efforts.
Next up, the Huskies face off against nationally ranked Boston College on Wednesday, April 15th at 3 p.m. in Brighton, Mass.
Game Notes
- Oliver Pudvar recorded the second-straight complete game for the Huskies on Sunday. It is the first time UConn has had back-to-back complete games since Austin Peterson and Ben Casparius put together back-to-back seven inning complete games against Georgetown (April 9-10, 2021).
- UConn pitching struck out 35 Butler batters over the course of the three-game series. It is the most in a three-game series since the Huskies struck out 42 at UNC Greensboro (March 21-23, 2025).
- The Huskies captured its 8th-straight BIG EAST series win dating back to last season.
- UConn has won five of its last six. The first time the Huskies have done that this year.
- The Huskies have four shutouts on the season. The first time since earning four shutouts in 2024.
