HookC Travels To Indy, Faces Butler

INDIANAPOLIS - The UConn baseball team (18-16, 4-2 BIG EAST) travels to Indianapolis to face the Butler Bulldogs (12-20, 3-0 BIG EAST) beginning on Friday, April 10 at 1:30 p.m. The middle game of the series will begin at 2 p.m. and the series finale gets going at 12 p.m.
The Huskies have tied a season-long win streak at three games after defeating Bryant on Tuesday, 6-2.Â
UConn is 4-2 to open BIG EAST Conference play with a pair of home series wins against Xavier and Creighton. Cam Righi leads the way in BIG EAST play with three home runs and six runs batted in while Jackson Marshall is hitting .391 in league play. Cayden Suchy has started BIG EAST play 2-0 with a 1.20 ERA.
Butler enters the weekend winners of six of its last seven and is 3-0 in BIG EAST play after sweeping first BIG EAST series since 2018.
Matthew Rhoades leads the team with 17 home runs, 32 runs batted in, 35 runs scored, 98 total bases and is slugging at a .784 clipand is 22nd nationally in slugging percentage (.784). Gavin Gilmore paces the offense with a .316 batting average including seven hits, four runs scored, a double, three home runs, eight RBI and a walk in the Bulldogs road series sweep at Villanova.
Brock Buckley earned BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week accolades after going 8.0 shutout innings with just one hit allowed and seven strikeouts.Â
