STORRS – "At a place where it's hard to make history," in the words of Dan Hurley, the 2026 UConn men's basketball team has done just that with its sixth-consecutive selection to the NCAA Tournament. The Huskies have earned the No. 2 seed the East region and will take on No. 15 seed Furman in the First Round in Philadelphia on Friday, March 20.
UConn went 29-5 in the regular season and elevated as high as No. 2 in the national polls, spending the entire season inside the top-six of the AP Top 25. The Huskies have spent most the season ranked inside the Top-10 of the NET and won marquee non-conference games over BYU, Illinois, Florida, at Kansas and Texas before going 17-3 in the BIG EAST.
From Nov. 23 to Feb. 3, the Huskies ripped off an 18-game winning streak which was good for the third-longest in UConn history. UConn has boasted one of the nation's most effective defensive units in the country this season and leads the BIG EAST in a slew of offensive categories including field goal percentage and assists per game, the latter of which they check in top-10 nationally.
UConn has made the NCAA Tournament in five-straight seasons on two occasions, doing so from 1956-60 and 2002-06. Starting with the 2021 Tournament, Connecticut has earned seeds of 5, 7, 4, 1, 8 and now 2. They are a No. 2 seed this year for the sixth time – 1995, 1998, 2002, 2004 and 2005 the others.
Credential information for the first round and second rounds in Philadelphia will be sent later tonight.
