No. 6 UConn Welcomes Maine to Storrs for Hockey East Quarterfinal

STORRS, Conn. – The No. 2 seeded UConn women's hockey team (24-8-2) is set to host the No. 7 seed Maine Black Bears for the Hockey East Quarterfinal this Saturday, February 28 at the Toscano Family Ice Forum. Puck drop is set for 3:00pm. The game will be streamed on ESPN+. TICKETS
UConn secured the No. 2 seed in the Hockey East Tournament, compiling a 17-6-1 conference record. It marks the third straight season the Huskies have recorded 15 plus wins in Hockey East play.
Offensively this season, UConn has scored 76 goals in conference action, ranking second in the league. The Huskies lead Hockey East in shots (899), and faceoffs won (733), posting a 57.3 success rate at the dot.
UConn had five student-athletes selected to All-Hockey East teams, including veteran netminder Tia Chan who was named the Hockey East Goaltender of the Year in back-to-back seasons. Forwards, Claire Murdoch, Julia Pellerin, Kyla Josifovic, and defender, Maya Serdachny were also selected as Hockey East All-Stars.
A Look at Maine
The Maine Black Bears (13-18-4) are coming off a dominant 4-0 win over Merrimack in the opening round of the Hockey East Tournament on Wednesday. The Black Bears clinched the No. 7 seed in the tournament with an 8-12-4 conference record this season. Maine is coached by Molly Engstrom in her 4th season. Freshman forward Isabelle Michaud has led the Black Bears this season in goals (10) and points (18).
Series History
UConn won two tightly contested one-goal games in the regular season series in Orono back in January. The Huskies have won seven of their last eight matchups against the Black Bears. UConn leads the all-time series, 46-20-10.
