No. 6 Huskies Shutout Boston University

BOSTON, Mass. – No. 6 UConn women's hockey defeated the Boston University Terriers, 2-0 on Saturday afternoon at Walter Brown Arena. The Huskies improve to 16-5-1 in Hockey East play and 23-7-2 overall this season.
Tia Chan earned her fifth shutout of the season, making just 11 saves in the win.
The opening period between the Huskies and Terriers started with a faceoff win for UConn, who maintained strong offensive pressure throughout. Boston University's goaltender was active, making 11 saves in the opening period. A power play opportunity for the Huskies arose at 17:23 following a boarding penalty on the Terriers, but UConn was unable to capitalize. The first period ended scoreless, with the Huskies leading in shots, 11-4.
Senior captain Emma Eryou opened the scoring midway through the second period, her second goal of the season, giving the Huskies a 1-0 lead.
UConn had multiple opportunities throughout the second period, earning three power play opportunities, including one five-minute major, but the Huskies repeatedly denied by the Terriers goaltender, who made 16 saves in the second frame. UConn took the one goal lead into the second intermission. The Huskies possessed a dominant advantage in shots in the second period, 17-2.
In the third period, the action intensified on both ends with Boston University searching for a potential equalizer. UConn's Chan was up for the task, making 5 saves in the final 20 minutes, helping to keep the Terriers off the scoreboard.
Boston University pulled its goalie with just over three minutes remaining to apply extra pressure, which led to an empty-net goal by senior forward Christina Walker, her fourth goal of the season, putting the game out of reach for the Terriers at 2-0.
UConn outshot Boston University 36–11, maintaining offensive pressure throughout the game. On special teams, UConn went 0-for-4 on the power play, while Boston University was 0-for-2 on their opportunities. The Huskies held a slight advantage in faceoffs, winning 21 to Boston University's 20. Additionally, UConn's defense contributed five blocked shots, helping secure the shutout victory.
