HARTFORD, Conn. — UConn men's hockey fell to the UMass Lowell by a final of 5-3 Friday evening. A three goal second period for the Riverhawks secured the win despite a late rally from the Huskies.
The first period began with a physical forecheck by the Huskies. Despite several attempts, the Huskies were unable to find the back of the net as UMass Lowell netminder Austin Elliott made eight saves in the period. Midway through the period, UMass Lowell opened the scoring as a failed clearance by the Huskies found the stick of Sean Kilcullen who fired it towards the net where Connor Eddy was in front for the redirection. Neither team was able to find the back of the net again in the period, as UConn entered the break trailing by one.
