STORRS, Conn. – No. 5 UConn women's hockey (17-3-2) is set for a home-and-home series against the Merrimack Warriors this weekend. The series is set to begin on Thursday, January 15 at 3:00pm at the Toscano Family Ice Forum. The series will conclude on Friday, January 16 at 2:00pm from Lawler Arena. UConn is coming off a series sweep at Maine a weekend ago and have won their last five straight games. In that stretch, the Huskies have outscored their opponents, 18-7, and are averaging 3.60 goals per game. This season, the Huskies are 13-1 when scoring first and hold a perfect 12-0 record when leading after the second period. Senior forward Megan Woodworth has had a strong start to 2026, scoring four goals in her last three games. This season, Woodworth has accounted for nine goals and five assists. The Huskies are averaging 2.9 goals per game this season, ranking 3rd in the conference and 14th nationally.
A Look at Merrimack
The Merrimack Warriors (3-16-3) have settled for ties in two of their last four games to begin their 2026 slate. The Warriors are currently in 10th place in the Hockey East standings with a 0-11-1 record. Merrimack is coached by Erin Hamlen entering her 11th season. This season, the Warriors have been led by a pair of veteran forwards in Emma Pfeffer and Avery Anderson, both on 14 points.
Series History
Last season, the Huskies swept the Warriors in the three-game regular season series, outscoring Merrimack, 9-1. Dating back to the 2022-23 season, UConn has won eight straight games against the Warriors. These two programs have met 15 times on the ice since 2020-21, the Huskies have been victorious in 13 of those contests. UConn leads the all-time series, 22-6-3.
