Huskies Battle to a Draw with Harvard

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with the Harvard Crimson on Saturday night at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium. The game was a physical match with eight cards being issued, including two red cards to each team. UConn remains unbeaten this season with a 5-0-3 record, heading into BIG EAST play next week.
UConn opened the scoring in the 23rd minute off the foot of senior forward Charlie Holmes, his third goal of the season, giving the Huskies an early lead. Holmes has tallied a goal in his last two straight matches.
The game shifted in Harvard's favor in the 35th minute as UConn's goal scorer Holmes, was given a straight red card after a VAR review, putting the Huskies down to ten men for the final 55 minutes of the game.
Despite being down a man, the UConn defense, led by goalkeeper Kyle Durham did well to slow the potent Harvard attack. Durham made key saves in both the first and second half's, finishing with five saves in the game.
Both teams went down to ten men in the 70th minute as Harvard's Yuta Hata was issued a straight red card after a VAR review.
Despite UConn's defensive effort, Harvard found an equalizer in the 74th minute, tying the game at 1-1.
