Cherry Hill, NJ - The University of Connecticut women's rowing team earned conference honors and placed third in the 3rd varsity eight Saturday, wrapping up their conference tournament and season as a whole.Â
Coach Jen Sanford said, "I've truly enjoyed working with this team this year. I'm glad that we were able to end the season with two days of good conditions and strong racing. Congratulations to the 3rd varsity 8 who made it to the awards podium with a third place finish. It was nice to see the 5 seniors in that boat end their career with a medal around their neck. All-conference winner junior Dasha Potapov leads the team by example, having the top erg score on the team and having an incredible work ethic and commitment to all areas promoting being the best student-athlete she can be. Seniors Liv Orphanos and Maddie LaPrade, also all-conference winners, were bow pair of the varsity eight and have been influential in growing the program since they walked on four years ago."Â
