STORRS, Conn. - The UConn baseball team (34-19) took its series opener against Maine (20-28), 13-4, on Thursday night at Elliot Ballpark.Â
The Huskies jumped in front early with five runs in the first inning that featured a two-run single for Aidan Dougherty and RBI single for Grant MacArthur.
Tyler Minick launched his 19th home run in the second inning to push the lead to 8-0.Â
LHP Oliver Pudvar made the start and on a pre-determined pitch count, fired 3.0 shutout frames with four strikeouts.
Greg Shaw III pitched 5.0 innings out of the UConn bullpen with four strikeouts.Â
Sam Biller hit his 13th home run of the year with a solo shot in the fourth inning.Â
Grant MacArthur was the lone Husky to register a multi-hit effort on Thursday.
