STORRS, Conn. - The UConn baseball team (35-19) defeated Maine, 10-3, to secure its sixth-straight series win on Friday night at Elliot Ballpark.

RHP Tommy Ellisen was superb for the Huskies with a career-high 7.0 innings of work, allowed just two unearned runs and struck out a career-high eight.

After Ellisen stranded a one-out triple in the top of the first, Tyler Minick delivered a two-out RBI single to get the Huskies on the board first, 1-0.

Ryan Daniels added to the lead with his fourth triple of the year, an RBI triple, to make it 2-0 UConn in the third. Daniels followed with an RBI single in the fourth to extend the UConn lead to 4-0.

After a two-out error led to a pair of runs for the Black Bears in the fifth, Caleb Shpur smacked a three-run homer over the UConn bullpen in left field to push the UConn lead to 7-2.

Shpur recorded his first career multi-homer game with a solo shot in the seventh to cap the UConn scoring.

Minick homered for the second-straight day, his 20th home run of the season, in the sixth inning. The sophomore becomes just the second UConn player in program history to hit 20 home runs in a single season. Mike Olt hit a program record 23 long balls in 2010.

Next up, the Huskies will celebrate Senior Day tomorrow with senior ceremony beginning at 12:40 p.m. First pitch for the final game of the series will be at 1:05 p.m.

UConn scored double digit runs for the 20th time this season. Tied for second most in program history (23 in 2010).
The UConn pitching staff issued just one walk on the night, tying a season-low. It is the third time this season the staff has issued just one free pass.
Caleb Shpur registered his first multi-homer game as a Husky and totaled a career-high five runs batted in.
Ryan Daniels notched his 20th multi-RBI game of the season. That mark leads the Huskies.
