STORRS, Conn. – No. 8 UConn women's hockey fell to the Boston College Eagles, 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Toscano Family Ice Forum. The Eagles scored the game-winning goal with two seconds remaining in the game, forcing a series split on the weekend. UConn moves to 3-1 in Hockey East play and 8-3-1 overall this season.
The first period began with Boston College gaining early control, winning multiple faceoffs and applying pressure. The Eagles scored the game's opening goal midway through the first period. The Huskies responded with several attempts, including a near miss by Kyla Josifovic that hit the pipe during a power play, but Boston College netminder, Grace Campbell kept them off the scoreboard. Despite UConn's persistent offensive efforts, Boston College maintained its one-goal advantage into the intermission.
The second period between the Huskies and Boston College saw no change in the score as both teams remained defensively strong. The Huskies had multiple opportunities, including shots from Sadie Hotles and Julia Pellerin, which hit the pipe, but once again Campbell's consistent goaltending for Boston College denied any scoring. Despite UConn having four power play opportunities, the period ended without a goal for either side, keeping the score, 1-0.
In the third period, junior forward Martha Mobarak found an equalizer off a great pass by Julia Pellerin in front of goal, making it 1-1 with under ten minutes to go. Mobarak's goal marks her first goal of the season.
Boston College scored the game-winning goal with just two seconds remaining, securing a 2–1 victory. The dramatic finish came after a tense period of sustained pressure from both sides.
