WSOC Face Xavier in BIG EAST Semi's

BOYDS, MD. - The No. 3 seeded UConn women's soccer team (11-3-3) opens the 2025 BIG EAST Championship with a semifinal match up against No. 2 seeded Xavier (13-2-2) on Thursday, November 6 at 5 p.m. The game can be streamed on ESPN+.
The Huskies are riding a four-game win streak and are unbeaten in their last seven matches. UConn has posted four-straight shutouts and now have 11 shutouts on the year.
Five Huskies earned All-BIG EAST honors on Wednesday with Chioma Okafor and Anaya Johnson making the first team, Anna Carson landing on the second and Se-Hanna Mars and Taylor Jenkins rounding out the recognition on the third team.
Okafor leads the Huskies with eight goals and 17 points this season with four of those goals as game-winners. Johnson has been a force in the UConn midfield, posting a goal and an assist in her 16 games this season.
Carson, a sixth-year senior, has played every minute of every game this season and has helped lead the UConn defense to the 11 shutouts on the season. The Enfield, Conn. native scored her lone goal of 2025, a game-winner, against Creighton.
Jenkins has also aided the Husky defense along with providing two goals on the season.
Redshirt freshman Se-Hanna Mars has burst onto the scene in her first season on the field, she leads the Huskies with four assists and is second on the squad with three goals and 10 points.
Freshman goalkeeper Ava Yamas has also had an outstanding year in her debut season. The Franklin, Tenn. native leads the BIG EAST Conference with 10 shutouts and ranks second with a 0.54 goals against average.
UConn enters the tournament as the reigning BIG EAST Tournament champs after taking down Creighton, Georgetown and Xavier in the 20224 BIG EAST Championship.
The winner of Thursday's semifinal match will advance to Sunday's BIG EAST Championship game at noon on Sunday, Nov. 9 against the winner of the Georgetown/Creighton match.
