WSOC Loses in BIG EAST Semifinal

BOYDS, Md. - The UConn women's soccer team (11-4-3) lost 7-0 to Xavier in the BIG EAST Championship semifinals on Thursday evening at the Maryland SoccerPlex.Â
The score remained 0-0 until the 30th minute when the Musketeers were awarded a penalty kick. Xavier converted the chance to get on the scoreboard first.Â
Xavier doubled the lead with two minutes remaining until halftime and took a 2-0 lead into the halftime break.Â
UConn looked to respond coming out of halftime but it was the No. 2 seeded Musketeers who scored just 1:38 into the second half.Â
Xavier scored five times in the second half to knock the Huskies out of the BIG EAST Championship.Â
UConn had allowed nine goals all season entering Thursday's match.Â
The Huskies only generated two shots on the night.Â
