STORRS, Conn.—UConn women's volleyball concludes a four-match homestand this weekend, facing #13 Creighton and Providence at the UConn Volleyball Center.
Scouting the Huskies (15-5, 4-4 BIG EAST)
UConn enters the weekend at 4-4 in conference play, having split last weekend's matches against Georgetown and Villanova. The Huskies swept the Hoyas on Friday before being defeated by Villanova on Saturday night. The loss marked UConn's first home defeat in 2025 and only its second setback in the last 25 home matches.
Emma Werkmeister recorded the 1,000th kill of her UConn career in the third set, becoming the 15th Husky in program history to do so. Werkmeister averaged 4.00 kills per set on the weekend, pouring in 12 kills against Georgetown and 16 against 'Nova. Werkmeister leads the Huskies with 3.73 kills per set. Audrey Rome continued her strong 2025 campaign last weekend, averaging 3.57 kills per set at a .513 hit percentage. Doga Kutlu paced the UConn offense last weekend, averaging 10.14 assists per set. Kutlu has 695 assists on the season. McKenna Brand continues to anchor the UConn defense, leading the Huskies with 3.69 digs per set.
Opposition Research
UConn welcomes perennial powerhouse #13 Creighton to Storrs this weekend. The Bluejays are unblemished in conference matches this season, dropping only one set so far in conference play. Creighton swept St. John's and Seton Hall in two home matches in Omaha last weekend. Annalea Maedar won BIG EAST Setter of the Week, averaging 11.67 assists per set and 2.17 digs per set in the two wins. Ava Martin leads the Jays with 4.09 kills per set this season, which is good for second place in the conference. Kiara Reinhardt leads the conference with a .452 hitting percentage, ranking third in the BIG EAST with 1.13 blocks per set. Creighton went 32-3 last season, going undefeated in conference play. The Bluejays made the NCAA Regional Final last season before falling to eventual champion Penn State.
The Huskies will face Providence on Sunday afternoon. The Friars are 10-11 on the season and 1-7 in conference play. Providence dropped both meetings at home last weekend against Villanova and Georgetown. Hadley Pride is the leader for the Providence defense, averaging a conference-best 5.49 digs per set. Sophia Adkins fuels the Friar attack, leading the team with 3.68 kills per set, ranking sixth in the conference. Providence leads the conference with 2.53 blocks per set, led by Lyric Berry's 1.33 blocks per set.
