No. 11 Huskies Top No. 15 Princeton

STORRS, Conn. – No. 11 UConn women's hockey defeated the No. 15 ranked Princeton Tigers, 2-1 on Friday afternoon at the Toscano Family Ice Forum. The win moves the Huskies to 3-2 overall this season.
UConn netminder Tia Chan was sensational for the Huskies, making a season high 48 saves in the win. The save total ties Chan' career high set during the 2023-24 season (Mar. 14 vs. Minnesota Duluth).
In the first period, UConn and Princeton battled to a scoreless draw despite a flurry of activity on both ends. Each team's netminders were tested early, with multiple shots on goal from both teams. UConn's Livvy Dewar came closest to scoring, hitting the pipe at 18:19. The Tigers outshot the Huskies, 17-8 in the first period.
Sophomore forward Claire Murdoch opened the scoring for the Huskies seven minutes into the second period. The goal marked Murdoch's first of the season, giving UConn a 1-0 lead.
UConn took the one goal advantage into the third period. Princeton led in shots in the second period, 16-6.
Princeton tied the game at 1-1 on the power play midway through the third period.
Senior forward Kyla Josifovic netted the game-winning goal on the power play just two minutes after the Princeton goal, giving the Huskies the lead for good. The goal was Josifovic's second of the season and first game-winner. She led the Huskies a season ago with four game-winning goals.
