Softball set for three game series at Butler

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – UConn softball (15-11) heads to Indianapolis this weekend to take on the Butler Bulldogs in a three game series.
The Huskies are coming into the weekend riding an eleven game winning streak, outscoring their opponents 66-23 during this stretch. The Huskies pitching staff has been dominant holding opponents to three runs or less in nine out of the past eleven games. UConn's offense has also found their stride scoring more runs in this eleven game span than their first fifteen games combined (56).
The Huskies have four players hitting over .300 in Grace Jenkins, Lexi Hastings, Rosie Garcia, and Hope Jenkins. Those four have combined for 69 of the Huskies 108 runs batted in this season, with 15 homers between them. Grace Jenkins leads the BIG EAST with eleven doubles as the Huskies lead the conference with 39 doubles this season.
UConn's pitching staff has shown their depth this season with four pitchers holding an era below 4.00. Meghan O'Neil, Payton Kinney, Hallie Siems, and Hope Jenkins have combined for 168 of the Huskies 176 strikeouts this season. Siems, O'Neil, and Jenkins all held 0.00 era's in the DePaul series last weekend with all three pitchers only giving up four hits combined across 15 innings pitched. Siems ranks third in the BIG EAST with 72 strikeouts this season as the Huskies lead the conference with 176 strikeouts.
Butler (13-15) is coming into the weekend on a three game skid, as they got swept at St. John's last weekend. So far, they are 2-4 in BIG EAST play with a series win over Providence. UConn leads the all-time series 11-1.
The first game of the series will be on Friday, March 22 at 3:00pm. Game two is set for Saturday, March 23 at 1:00pm. The series finale will be on Sunday, March 24 at 12:00pm. All games will be streamed on FloSoftball.
