»The UConn Huskies will return to Hockey East action following a 1-1 weekend in the CT Ice Tournament. The Huskies began the tournament by defeating Sacred Heart 6-2, before falling to Quinnipiac in the Championship game by a final of 4-3.
» Senior Captain Hudson Schandor has begun to find the back of the net, scoring 2 goals in the 6-2 win over Sacred Heart. Schandor currently sits second on the team with 16 total points.
» The Huskies will be heading into their 5th weekend against a ranked opponent when they take on #10 Providence.
» Sophomore class finding their stride. The Huskies 2nd year skaters have begun to find their stride on the offensive end of the ice. Jake Percival, Ryan Tattle, have seen an uptick in goals, while Tristan Fraser, Tabor Heaslip, and defenseman Tom Messineo continue to make an impact by setting up their teammates for goals.
» Sophomore Arsenii Sergeev has found his stride since returning to the ice. Sergeev is currently 3-0 while only allowing 3 total goals.
» This will be the first matchup between the Friars and Huskies this season. In two games, last season, the teams combined for 7 total goals with both games ending in a shootout.
» Battle of Special Teams: Both the Huskies and Friars boast strong penalty kill units, with UConn posting an 84.4% penalty kill rate while the Friars have an 84.8% penalty kill rate.
» Chase Bradley leads the team with 10 goals and 11 assists. Despite lineups changing due to injuries and World Juniors, Bradley continues to make an impact for the Huskies.
» Huskies in the NHL: Yan Kuznetsov became the 6th Husky to reach the pros, having most recently been called up by the Calgary Flames. Kuznetsov joins, Todd Krygier, Cole Schneider, Max Letunov, Adam Huska, and Tage Thompson as former Huskies to make it to the league.
