STORRS, Conn. - The No. 20 UConn baseball team (17-6) run-ruled Hartford (1-14), 17-1, in seven innings on Wednesday afternoon at Elliot Ballpark.
The Huskies posted a season-high 10 run inning in the first to open the ballgame. UConn had four-straight RBI doubles from Ben Huber, Jake Studley, Luke Broadhurst and Ryan Daniels.
Dominic Freeberger added a two-run double in the frame and Huber capped the scoring with his fifth home run of the season, a two-run shot, to make it 10-0 Huskies.
The 10 runs was the most for the Huskies in an inning since they plated 10 runs in the 8th inning at Presbyterian on March 7, 2020.Â
UConn was solid from the mound with Garrett Coe earning the win after retiring all six hitters that he faced.
Brady Afthim, Michael Quigley, Braden Quinn and Justin Willis all followed with scoreless frames.Â
RHP Joe Carrea made his UConn debut and logged an inning of work and collected his first strike out.Â
Freshman Drew Kron came off the bench and registered his first career hit, a two-run single, as a part of a seven-run fifth inning.Â
Four Huskies recorded multi-hit performances and six grabbed multi-RBI efforts.
UConn returns to the field on Friday, March 31 to open up a three-game series against UMBC at 3:05 p.m. at Elliot Ballpark.
