Boston, Mass. - The University of Connecticut Swimming and Diving Team fell to the Northeastern Huskies Saturday 133.5 to 165.5.
UConn saw several strong performances throughout the day boosted by early wins for Ana Laura Faoro and Niamh Hofland in the 3 mtr diving event and 1000y Freestyle respectively. UConn would find success in many other events with contributions including that from freshman Olivia Herbert in the 200y Breaststroke and 200y Butterfly. Niamh would expand on her early win with two more - in the 500y Freestyle and 200y IM. Northeastern's success in the relays; however, helped separate them from UConn taking the first two spots in the 200y Medley and top three spots in the 200y Freestyle. The loss is UConn's second consecutive, falling to conference foe Villanova two weeks ago.Â

Of the day's performance Coach Maiello said, "Today's meet was against a good road opponent. Credit to them for being sharp early in putting us on our heels to start the meet. I am encouraged by our fight as we managed to claw our way back into the meet in the second half. It was just not enough today. We will learn from the video and splits and get back to work on Monday."
