Villanova, PA.ย ย โ The UConn women's swimming and diving team dominated in a win over the University of Villanova Wildcats on Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania.
The Huskies dominated from start to finish with a score of 174-126, winning 11 of the 16 events, as well placing top 3 in all but one event. The Huskies got off to a fast start and never looked back, winning the 200 medley relay, 1000 yard freestyle, and 200 yard freestyle. Senior Bella Hoffman and junior Sydney Perkins led the way for the Huskies, each winning two events in an overall great performance.
"Great team win against a conference opponent," said Head Coach Chris Maiello on the road victory. "The team was focused, energized and executed their race and diving strategies well."
This was UConn's first win against since Villanova since 2014, and they will look to take this momentum into the rest of the season and build on what has been a great start to the season thus far.
The Huskies will look to their next meet, where they are set to take on the University of Rhode Island on Saturday October 31st at the Wolff-Zackin Natatorium. The meet is set for 12:00 pm.
