Storrs, Conn. - The University of Connecticut women's tennis team fell to Boston College 7-0 for the first match of 2023 Friday afternoon.

Isabel Petre Bere and Cameron Didion also battled in close matches. Petre Bere would be bested 6-4, 6-2 and Didion would fight to force the first set to 7-5 BC, and then dropped the second set 6-1.
Both the first and second doubles would finish with close matches. First doubles pair, Olivia Wright and Maria Constantinou took a 6-4 setback and second doubles pair, Karamyshev and Isabel Petre Bere also would be clipped 6-4.
"This was our first match of the season, and it was great to get on the court and finally start competing," Tennis Director Glenn Marshall said. "BC is a tough team from the ACC conference and they've already played three matches and were a little bit more stronger than us today. We played some nice doubles and had close matches at number one and two, which is very positive. Three of our singles players had close matches and played very well, including Karamyshev, Petre Bere, and Didion. We look forward to getting out there next week for the next match with a little bit more experience and confidence."
