BSB Head to Lubbock to Face No. 9 Texas Tech in Four-Game Set

LUBBOCK, Texas - The UConn baseball team (4-6) squares off against No. 9 Texas Tech in a four-game series beginning on Friday, March 12 at 3 p.m. ET. The Huskies and Red Raiders play on Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m. ET and wrap up the series on Monday at 11 a.m. ET at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Field Park. The games can be viewed on ESPN+ for all four games while 91.7 FM WHUS will cover the final three games of the series. Friday's game will be streamed on MIXLR.Â
UConn is coming off a 2-2 weekend at the Baseball at the Beach tournament in Conway, S.C. that included victories against Miami (OH) and host Coastal Carolina.Â
The Huskies battle their second Top-10 opponent of the season with the Red Raiders ranked No. 9 in multiple polls. The preseason Omaha pick is off to a 10-3 start and has won 10 games in a row. The Red Raiders haven't lost at home since 2019, a streak of 20 in a row.
This is the first time in program history that the Huskies make the trip to Lubbock to play the Red Raiders. The Huskies are 1-0 all-time against Texas Tech with an extra-inning win back in 2013 at the Wawa Weekend Classic at UCF in Orlando, Fla.
Friday Night Capsy... Ben Casparius earned his first career win as a Husky with a superb 8.0 inning performance that featured a career-high 11 strikeouts against Miami (OH). The Wesport, Conn. native has kept the Huskies in each fo the three games that he has pitched. He leads the Huskies with 20.2 innings pitched and 24 strikeouts.
Bush or Bonds... UConn lead off hitter Zach Bushling surprised many with a multi-homer performance last Monday against Coasatal Carolina. The Cali JUCO transfer from last year hit his first career home run as a Husky in the 3rd inning on Monday and followed it up in his next at-bat with his second long ball of the day.
Career Night For Husky Closer.. UConn closer Caleb Wurster earned his second win out of the bullpen with a career-high 4.2 innings, zero hits, zero walks and career-high 10 strikeouts against Coastal Carolina in a 5-4 win in 12 innings. The left-hander struck out the side in the 12th inning to secure the come-from-behind win against the Chanticleers.
Reggie Rockets... Reggie Crawford hit a pair of home runs last weekend at the Baseball at the Beach tournament in Conway, S.C. The UConn first baseman has a multi-homer game that came against Southern Mississippi in the finale of that three-game set. The Frackville, Pa. native leads the team with 17 RBIs. Crawford has hit five home runs in the first 10 games. .
