PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Kiera Dalmass, a four-year member of the UConn women's lacrosse team, has been appointed as the American Athletic Conference's representative to the NCAA Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), and will be one of 32 student-athletes (one from each Division I conference) that will report directly to the NCAA Division I Council. She will also serve as the conference's SAAC executive board chair in 2019-20.
Dalmass captained the Huskies' women's lacrosse squad in 2018-19 and is pursuing her Master of Science degree in statistics. She graduated cum laude from UConn's Honors Program with her Bachelor of Science in statistics in 2018. Since arriving on campus, Dalmass has been an active presence on UConn's SAAC and served as President during the 2018-19 year.
While at UConn, Dalmass has personified the meaning of student-athlete, excelling academically and athletically while serving her community. Most recently, she helped champion The American's #Pow6rfulMinds mental health awareness initiative, and worked this past year to coordinate a bone marrow donation drive through Be The Match. Additionally, Dalmass has played a key role with Special Olympics, mentoring inner-city middle schoolers and Husky lacrosse's partnership with the One Love Foundation (promoting awareness on relationship violence).
Dalmass is UConn's 2019 Kinsman Award winner, a distinguished award through the Student-Athlete Success Program that recognizes student-athletes for leadership, service and academic excellence as well as external contributions to various communities.
A native of Moorestown, New Jersey, Dalmass was a two-year starter as a defender on UConn's women's lacrosse team. In 2019, she started all 17 games for the Huskies, recording 20 ground balls with 10 caused turnovers.
