UConn Travels to ECU, Cincinnati

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn volleyball team is on the road again this weekend as they travel to East Carolina and Cincinnati for another pair of American Conference matchups. The Huskies (9-13, 3-7 American) take on the Pirates in Greenville on Friday, November 1st at 7:00 pm before heading to Cincinnati to take on the Bearcats on Sunday, November 3rd at 12:00 pm.
This Week's Matchups
East Carolina (15-8, 3-7 American) enters the weekend after dropping two games last weekend against SMU (3-1) and Memphis (3-2). The Pirates won the previous matchup against the Huskies (3-1) at Gampel, but have since lost three of their last four games. Bri Wood and Sydney Kleinman lead the ECU attack with 283 kills apiece this season. Wood has recorded 3.14 kills per set and is hitting at .284 this year. Kleinman averages 3.45 kills per set and hits at .240 on the season. Shelby Martin aids the offense with team-high 556 assists and 6.32 assists per set. The Pirate defense is led by Brandee Markwith who has tallied a team-high 402 digs and 4.47 digs per set. Toya Osuegbu leads ECU with 85 total blocks on the year.
Cincinnati (17-5, 9-1 American) is coming off two victories last weekend against Memphis (3-0) and SMU (3-0). The Bearcats defeated the Huskies (3-0) earlier in the season at Gampel. Their only conference loss of the season so far came against Tulane (3-0). Jordan Thompson leads the Cincinnati offense with 487 kills this year, averaging 6.24 kills per set, while hitting at a .348 clip. Thompson also leads the Bearcats defensively, with 217 digs, averaging 2.78 digs per set this season. Armania Heckenmueller backs the offense with a team-high 918 assists and 11.77 assists per set. Maria Mallon's 216 digs and 2.88 digs per set bolster the Cincinnati defense, while Adria Oliver leads the team with 44 total blocks.

Last Time Out
The Huskies are back in action after a weekend split at Gampel last weekend. UConn fell to Wichita State (3-1) Friday night before beating Tulsa (3-1) Sunday afternoon. The win against Tulsa snapped a six game losing skid for the Huskies. R-Sophomore Courtney Morris was named to the American Weekly Honor Roll this week after tallying team-high 87 assists, 10.88 assists per set, 30 digs, 3.75 digs per set, and three service aces. Sophomore Caylee Parker led the team with 30 kills, averaging 3.75 kills per set over the weekend, and added 29 digs, averaging 3.62 digs per set. Freshman Mia Ruffolo tallied 29 digs and 3.62 digs per set and Junior Ally Barrett recorded 15 kills and 23 digs over the weekend.
