PRINCETON, N.J. – The UConn women's cross country team took fourth place at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday morning. The Huskies finished with a total of 118 points.
Junior Mia Nahom was the Huskies' top finisher, coming in second overall out of 212 participants. Nahom completed the race with a time of 21:15. Freshman Randi Burr had another impressive performance, finishing 15th overall with a time of 21:48. Senior Danielle Jordan was UConn's third finisher, 28th overall, coming in at a time of 22:18. Rounding out the Huskies' top five finishers were Sophomore Kate Daley, who came in 35th with a time of 22:35, and Sophomore Celia Chacko, finishing 38th with a time of 22:27.
Junior Katelyn Romanchick and Senior Ericka Randazzo also performed well for the Huskies. Romanchick came in just behind Chacko in 39th, with a time of 22:28. Randazzo finished 44th, coming in at 22:33.
Following the Princeton Invite, Head Coach Lindsay Crevoiserat said, "Today was a great movement forward. There were five teams I knew were going to beat tough to beat and we came away with fourth place. We moved up from seventh place midway to fourth place in the last three kilometers. They climbed well over the second half of the race."
"We had Mia run a great race up front, followed by Randi," said Crevoiserat. "Then we have a solid pack once again. We got our top five in before most team's top five. We're a very deep team, we just need a few to step up a little more and close the gap."
The conference championships are closing in and the Huskies are moving in the right direction. "We are definitely one step closer and this race is leading us well into conference."
