Nahom Named All-AAC as Huskies Finish 4th

Memphis, Tenn. – The UConn women's cross country team took fourth place at the 2019 American Athletic Conference Championship race on Friday morning. Junior Mia Nahom (New Milford, Conn.) was named to the All-AAC team as a top finisher at the race. The Huskies finished with all top-five finishers landing in the top-30 overall.
In their final AAC Championship, the Huskies ran the 6k course at Shelby Farms Park. Nahom was the top finisher for UConn, setting a new 6k personal best time coming in fourth overall with a time of 20:46. Sophomore Randi Burr (Westerly, R.I.) finished second for the Huskies and 21st overall with a personal best 6k time of 21:31. Senior Danielle Jordan (Clifton Park, N.Y.) finished third for the Huskies and 23rd overall with a personal best 6k time of 21:35.
"It was a solid race today and a great up front run by Mia. We got out pretty aggressively as well and really hung in there," said Head Coach Lindsay Crevoiserat. "It was solid all-around day."
"Mia has been consistency up front and the real leader of the team. Always fighting for the top spot, always solid. She gives us some leadership and great consistency that the rest of the team can follow."
Tulsa won its third AAC title with 37 points and all top-five runners finishing in the top-10 overall. Wichita State ran in second with 63 points, followed by Temple with 83 points. UConn took fourth with 100 points and Cincinnati took fifth with 106 points.
Sophomore Celia Chacko (Windsor, Conn.) finished fourth for UConn and 24th overall coming in at 21:37. Fellow sophomore Kate Daley (Clinton, Conn.) was the Huskies' fifth finisher and 28th overall with a time of 21:47 to round out the Huskies' top-five.
"It's been a great season so far and working up to this point in the season. I think you will see a lot of growth as we move on to regionals and then indoor and outdoor season. This has been a great stepping stone season, getting better each week."
