13 Unanswered Runs Lead No. 18 Huskies vs. Sacred Heart

Storrs, Conn.- The No. 18 UConn baseball team scored 13 unanswered runs to run away with a 13-2 victory against Sacred Heart on Tuesday afternoon at J.O. Christian Field.
The UConn bats banged out a season-high 20 hits with all nine starters grabbing at least one knock. Seven Huskies recorded multi-hit performances in the winning effort.
Anthony Prato and Conor Moriarty both had 3 RBIs in the contest, while Moriarty and Isaac Feldstein each notched a pair of doubles.
Joe Simeone earned his first career win with four innings of work, allowing just three hits and struck out a career-high five batters. The only run the Pioneers scored came after giving up a leadoff walk to begin the ballgame that eventually came around to score.
UConn responded right away with a pair of RBI singles from Prato and Zac Susi. Susi reached base for the 32-straight game with his single in the first.
The Huskies piled on with five runs in the third and four runs in the fourth to distance UConn to an 11-1 lead. From there the UConn bullpen had plenty of support to close out the Huskies 28th win of the season.
Trevor Holmes tied a career-high with four strikeouts in two scoreless innings of work.
Avery Santos pitched a career-high two scoreless innings on two hits and career-high two punch outs.
The Huskies battle Northeastern on Wednesday at 1 p.m. from Brookline, Mass. Colby Dunlop will make the start for the Huskies.
Notes
UConn accumulated a season-high 20 hits (Citadel, March 10, 19 hits). It is the first time the Huskies have notched at least 20 hits since Feb 28, 2016 vs. Alcorn State (23 hits).
10 UConn players recorded a hit, including all nine starters. The first time the Huskies have accomplished the feat this season.
Joe Simeone earned his first career win in his second career start.
Avery Santos logged a career-high two scoreless innings in just his third appearance back from Tommy John.
