Football Closes Season on Senior Day

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. - The Huskies close out the 2018 season against Temple on Saturday, Nov. 24 at 3:30 p.m. on ESPNU.

20 seniors will be honored prior to the game on Saturday. The Series vs. Temple
Saturday's game will be the 19th time Temple and UConn have met. The series began in 1963 and currently has Temple holding a 12-6 all-time edge over the Huskies.
Last season, the Huskies knocked off the Owls 28-24 at Lincoln Financial Field on Oct. 14. Bryant Shirreffs threw for three touchdowns and the defense supplied a score with a pick-six from Tyler Coyle.
 Last time the Owls traveled to Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field, Temple topped the Huskies by a 21-0 score on November 4. Donovan Williams made his first career start at QB for the Huskies. He completed 12 of 21 passes for 69 yards. Obi Melifnowu snagged an interception for the UConn defense.
 In 2013, UConn posted a dramatic come-from-behind victory over Temple by a 28-21 score on November 23. The Huskies entered the game with a 0-9 record and trailed the Owls by a 21-0 score at the half. However, the Huskies scored 28 unanswered second half points for the win. Yawin Smallwood had the winning score with a 59-yard intercept tion return with 4:20 left to play.
The 2008 game was played in hurricane conditions as the Huskies prevailed in OT by a 12-9 score at Lincoln Financial Field. UConn trailed 6-0 at halftime, but Tony Ciaravino had a pair of fourth quarter FGs to move the game into overtime. After Temple kicked another FG, Donald Brown had three-straight rushes and scored on a seven-yarder to win the game. Brown had 214 yards of rushing on the day
SINGLE-SEASON RECORD BOOK
Heading into the fi nal game of the season, the Huskies have a collection of players that are climbing the charts on the single-season record lists.
David Pindell has already set single-season records in rushing yards (1115) and rushing touchdowns (10) for a quarterbackl. Pindell is third in UConn single season history for net yards of total offense with 3004 yards in 2018. Pindell is chasing Dan Orlovsky who holds the single-season record with 3444 yards of total off ense in 2003.
Kevin Mensah is 49 yards away from hitting the 1000 yard mark. Mensah would become the 16th player and second player this season (Pindell) to reach the 1000 yard mark.
Tight end Aaron McLean is tied for ninth with 32 catches. Brian Kozlowski holds the tight end catch record with 51 back in 1990.
 Tyler Davis is tied for second in single-season history with six receiving TD's by a tight end. Davis is chasing Allan MacLellan and his eight TD catches in 1973.
Luke Magliozzi is second in single-season history with a punt average of 42.74 this season. The UConn punter has accumulated 2436 yards on 51 punts this season for the Huskies. The Aussie is just behind Desi Cullen's 2009 single-season record average of 42.8.
