No. 4 Huskies to Face No. 15 Liberty for BIG EAST Title

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The top-seeded and fourth-ranked UConn field hockey team (17-3) battles second-seeded and 15th-ranked Liberty (13-5) for the BIG EAST Tournament championship Sunday at 1 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The Huskies set a BIG EAST Tournament record for goals in a 9-1 win over Villanova in the semifinals Friday. Maddy Wray, Svea Boker and Abby Gooderham each scored a pair of goals as the Huskies totaled a season-high nine goals, including five in the first half.

HUSKIES EARN BIG EAST HONORS
UConn raked in numerous BIG EAST end-of-season honors this week. Cecile Pieperwas named the conference's Defensive Player of the Year while Cheyenne Sprecherwas tabbed Freshman of the Year. Nancy Stevens, Paul Caddy and Cheri Schulz were tabbed the BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year.
Pieper and Sprecher were joined on the All-BIG EAST First Team by Svea Boker, Amanda Collins and Amelia Iacobucci. Antonia Tiedkte was named All-BIG EAST Second Team.
UCONN-LIBERTY HISTORY
This is the third straight year UConn and Liberty have faced off in the BIG EAST championship game. The Huskies posted a 6-1 win over the Flames in Storrs during the regular season.
BIG EAST CHAMPS!
UConn won the 2018 BIG EAST regular season championship outright. The program has won six straight conference regular season titles and 18 overall. The Huskies went 7-0 in BIG EAST play this season. This season, UConn outscored conference opponents 38-4 and recorded four shutouts.

BIG EAST DOMINANCE
The Huskies are once again the top team in the BIG EAST. UConn has gone undefeated in conference play for five straight seasons and the team is on a 32-game win streak in regular season conference play, dating back to Oct. 25, 2013. UConn has won 18 BIG EAST regular season titles and 15 conference tournament titles. The Huskies have won the last five regular season and the last six tournament BIG EAST championships.
IN THE RANKINGS
The Huskies rank No. 4 in this week's Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll. UConn is No. 5 in the most recent NCAA RPI. The Huskies are 7-3 vs. ranked teams this season.
