Danielle Bordes Selected Arthur Ashe Semifinalist

FAIRFAX, Va. - Diverse: Issues in Higher Education announced the selection of sophomore Danielle Bordes as a semifinalist for its 2017 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award.
The semifinalists consist of the top 20 male and female minority student-athletes who achieve at least a 3.2 GPA along with athletic accolades and are active in community service activities.
Bordes (Alpharetta, GA.) was picked to represent women's swimming and diving and is eligible to be named a finalist in April.
A scholar and athlete, Ashe sought to expand opportunities for young people. Each year Diverse: Issues In Higher Education invites every postsecondary institution in the country to participate in this awards program by nominating their outstanding sports scholars.
Past Ashe scholars include: Baylor University's Robert Griffin III (2011); the University of Tennessee's Kara Lawson (2003); San Diego State University's Marshall Faulk (1993); and the University of Kansas' Jaque Vaughn (1996).
