Huskies Host Vanderbilt for Senior Day Saturday

STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut women's lacrosse team returns to the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex Saturday, April 16 at 11 a.m. for Senior Day when it hosts Vanderbilt. The eleven members of the senior class will be honored by the team and coaching staff 20 minutes prior to the start of the game.
Fans please be advised that due numerous sporting events there will be an excess of people on campus and the parking lots behind Gampel Pavilion and next to the Sherman Complex will be inaccessible.
Coming off an exciting win in overtime against Temple, the Huskies enter Saturday's match undefeated, 4-0, in Big East games with a 10-2 overall record. UConn can clinch a spot in the Big East Conference tournament with a win over Vanderbilt on Saturday.
Sophomore Grace Nolan (Marcellus, N.Y.) currently leads the team with 44 points (34g, 10a), followed by senior Katherine Finkelston (Leonardtown, Md.) with 42 points (38g, 4a) and junior Jacqueline Jordan (Los Gatos, Calif.) with 30 points (16g, 14a).
Senior goalkeeper Shannon Nee (Lancaster, Pa.) has started in all 12 games for UConn, posting 122 saves so far this season, for a .533 save percentage, the best in the conference, and a 9.07 goals against average.
SCOUTING THE COMMODORES
Vanderbilt snapped its six-game losing streak with most recent win, 13-3, over Cincinnati Wednesday. The Commodores are 5-8 overall and 1-3 in Big East games. Five of Vanderbilt's eight losses have come against ranked opponents, including Louisville, Stanford, Penn State, Johns Hopkins and Florida.
Mallory Schonk currently leads the Commodores with 34 points (23g, 11a), followed by Kelly Chandler (32g, 1a) and Jill Doherty (15g, 18a) who are both tied with 33 points.
Vanderbilt goalkeeper Callahan Kent has played all 780 minutes in net for the Commodores, recording 135 saves for a .494 percentage and a 10.38 goals against average.
THE SERIES
UConn trails Vanderbilt 1-3 in the all-time series. The Huskies and the Commodores met last season on Vanderbilt's turf in Nashville where UConn felt short of Vandy 10-9 in overtime on April 12, 2015.
