Huskies Head South to Play Tulane, Houston

STORRS, Conn. - Recently snapping a five-match losing skid with a straight-set victory over Memphis on Sunday, the UConn volleyball prepares to hit the road for an American Athletic Conference weekend against Tulane and Houston.
The Huskies (14-9, 5-7 American) play the Green Wave on Friday at 8 p.m. (ET) and the Cougars on Sunday at 2 p.m. (ET). Both matches can be followed on live stats or viewed on the live stream.
Most recently, the Huskies swept Memphis at home, as sophomore Iman McGary had a career-high 16 kills in the win. Redshirt freshman Kayla Williams had her 12th double-double of the season with 14 kills and a career-high 18 digs.
As a team, UConn ranks ninth in the NCAA in kills per set (14.36) and 13th in assists per set (13.41). Williams is averaging a team-high 3.49 kills per set, while sophomore Emma Turner has a team-best 6.40 assists per set.
In Gampel Pavilion back on Sept. 23 and 25, UConn swept Houston and Tulane to start conference play. The Huskies beat the Cougars, 3-0, behind 10 kills from Williams, and the Green Wave, 3-1, led by senior Camille Evans with 16 kills.
With eight conference matches remaining in the season, the Huskies look to build momentum off Sunday's victory. UConn has two four-match winning streaks to date and is 8-5 following a win this season.
SCOUTING TULANE, HOUSTON
Tulane (13-11, 5-7 American) comes into Friday riding a three-match losing streak, dropping games to Memphis, Tulsa and SMU. The Green Wave recently took the first-place Mustangs to five sets before losing a tightly-contested match.
Sarah Ray leads the Green Wave with 3.65 kills per set, while Sarah Strasner is fifth in the conference with a .327 hitting percentage. UConn is 5-1 all-time against Tulane and has won each of the last four meetings.
Houston (5-18, 0-12 American) continues to search for its first conference victory of the season. The Cougars are coming off losses to SMU and Tulsa. In 12 American matches, Houston has been swept in eight.
Sarah Afflerbaugh leads the team with 2.72 kills per set and Katie Krebs is averaging 4.23 assists per set. UConn trails in the all-time series, 4-3, but the Huskies have won two of the last three meetings.
